Friday’s Feast

Name 3 things that you think are strange.

  1. That so many people miss the message of salvation or choose to ignore it!
  2. The things some people put in their mouths! Some foods or piercings.
  3. That sometimes blogger photo uploads will work and sometimes it doesn’t! Today it’s not working for me.

What was the last ceremony you attended? A funeral. At my age, that seems to be more the norm than weddings.

What is one lesson you have learned in the past year? There have been many, but the biggest one is that God is in control! Actually, that’s one that I have to keep learning over and over! Another is that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Main Course
Tell us about one of your childhood memories. Walking across the neighbor’s frozen pond and falling in! I’ll have to go into more detail on a Monday Memory.

If you could extend any of the four seasons to be twice as long as normal, which season would you want to lengthen? Fall. I like Winter best but Fall is by far the most beautiful to me.

Please fill in Mr. Linky if you’d like to be linked to this meme.

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday: Who A CHILD OF GOD is thankful for this week

(other than family members)
  • For my friend/sister-in-the-Lord/neighbor/co-volunteer who got me started in blogging. If not for her…I wouldn’t be here (and working on a second blog!). Who listens to my complaints and struggles and loves me just the same.
  • For my sister-in-love who “raised” me from a babe in Christ, knew me B.C. (before Christ) and still loves me.
  • For a pastor who is not afraid to speak the truth in love…even if it does step on people’s toes.
  • For all my brothers and sisters in Christ who love even when I do make “stupid” mistakes.
  • And, last but certainly not least, all my blogger friends.

Monday Memories

Did I ever tell you about R’s First Read

…While our daughters were growing up I used to love to read to them and they loved to be read to. They would gather up close one on each side and ask lots of questions.

When R (the oldest) was about 3 she had a favorite book that she’d bring me and ask me to read it to her time after time. It was one of those books that has the thick pages and just a few words on each page. She’s 21 now and I don’t even remember the name of it.

She reached the point that she’d heard it so many times she memorized it. She would “read” the words on each page and turn the page when necessary. She was reading!

It must have been a “God thing” because one time I got the tape recorder and recorded her reading her first book. That was long before CDs. We still have the tape and occasionally get it out to hear R read.

As you young mothers are raising your babies, READ to them. Even if they can’t understand you, the interaction is a wonderful bonding experience. It’s something you will always remember. If you have an opportunity, record some of these special memories…although I’m not sure how you’d do it on a CD.

How would you describe your personal comfort zone? I like being alone. Don’t misunderstand…I like people…I just don’t like being around a lot of people for too long a period of time.

What is your favorite tree? Most of them. I like maples because of their color presentation in the Fall. And I like flowering cherry, evergreens, weeping willow, birch.

List 3 foods you’d like to include in your dinner plans for tonight. Three foods I’d like to in my dinner plans for tonight are lobster, baked potato and green beans! Of course, dinner probably won’t include the lobster!

Main Course
What is the best advice you’ve ever been given, but didn’t heed? To remember that God is in control!

On a scale of 1-10 (10 being highest), how much attention do you feel comfortable receiving from others? Not much. I just like to be thanked when I’ve done something for someone.

It’s Thursday…

Thankful Thursday: What A CHILD OF GOD is thankful for this week

I'm SO thankful for good health! Every morning I thank God that He has given me such good health. I've never been sick-other than the regular childhood diseases, colds, flu...all the stuff that most people get.

At one point in our first five years of marriage, I had kidney stones. I'm not sure which is worse...having a baby or kidney stones. It was most painful. Then about four years ago, I had to have my appendix removed just prior to it bursting! My boss at the time had gone through the same thing only his burst and it took a long time to heal.

As I get older, I find I can't do things as quickly or as much as I used to, body parts "go to sleep" a lot sooner, and I've gotten quite a bit out of shape.

My Hubby has a ministry of repairing bicycles that he's named "New Creation Bikes" and he has fixed one for me. Now that it's getting warmer, I want to get out and start using it. Hopefully that will help some of the "old age problems." I don't even mind getting older--it just means I'm getting closer to being with Jesus!

So when anybody asks how I'm doing, I tell them "Great!"

A Little Bit of Praise

to BLOGGER! Yes, I discovered that I wasn’t the only one having problems. After my post, I emailed Blogger and THEY RESPONDED. So having worked for a company with a large computer network, I now understand. Thank you Blogger!

However, I still can’t upload pics through Blogger, so I’m using Photobucket and obviously that works!
